Quarantids Meteor Shower

January 1 - January 5, 2024

Peaks on the night of the 3rd and morning of the 4th.

Up to 40meteors/hour at peak

Meteors will radiate from the constellation Bootes, but can appear anywhere in the sky.

The constellation Bootes is located in the northern sky. It appears to chase the big dipper around the north star. (https://www.space.com/bootes-constellation.html)

Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. (Check out this light pollution map to help you find a good location)

Waning gibbous moon will block out some of the less bright meteors.
